    Residing in an exquisite compound in the mountains near Toki, the center for oribe and shino ceramics, Kishimoto Kennin derived his inspiration from these Mino traditions but has transformed these aesthetics into highly creative Iga ware. His enthusiasm for a variety of aesthetic traditions has provided him with a vast range of techniques typically used for unglazed pottery. From the mid-1990s until recently he has also focused the highly difficult craft of crackle-glaze celadon ware. However, his natural ash Iga ceramics that have brought him greatest acclaim in Japan, Europe and the US.

    1984 First solo show at Nihonbashi Takashimaya in Tokyo
    1988 Selected for exhibition: JAPAN ART, West Germany
    1992 “Vier Elemente Drei Länder” at Museum für Kunsthandwerk Frankfurt am Main, Ausstellung, Germany.
    2000 Exhibited at Toyota City Art Museum
